New York Jigsaw Puzzle Association Mission Statement!
Our mission is to educate New York state residents about the benefits of jigsaw puzzling to ones health and well-being. This includes both in-person and virtual events. We hope to not only promote jigsaw puzzling as an individual, but also to connet jigsaw puzzlers together and create a community of people linked throughout the entire state.
Leadership Team
Valerie Mackey - Chairperson
Valerie lives in Schenectady, NY. Puzzling has been a favorite activity of hers since childhood. She has discovered that the puzzle image is second to the piece shapes as she enjoys funky shaped pieces. Vintage puzzles (Springbok are her favorite) and learning about their history are also what gets her excited about puzzling.
Kayla Berkowitz - Co Vice Chairperson
Kayla is first and foremost a HUGE dog lover! She lives in Queens, NY with her dog Dutchy. Her puzzle preferences include bright and illustrated images, random cut, and is really into wooden puzzles!
Ellen Leader - Co Vice Chairperson
Ellen lives in Western NY with her partner and their 2 cats: Checker & Domino. She loves all things puzzling and especially the satisfaction of placing that final piece. Puzzling preferences vary widely from colorful, gradient, landscapes, and even 3D puzzles on her VR headset.
Jennifer Morrow - Secretary
Dr. Jennifer Morrow has always loved jigsaw puzzles and would often complete them upside down for the extra challenge. She was bitten by the speed puzzling bug in 2023 from a YouTube video about the World Speed Puzzling championship in Spain. While she loves taking care of her small town community as a legal drug dealer (some people say pharmacist), or leading LymeCARES, a non-profit focused on tick borne illness education, these activities often keep her from completing more than 3 puzzles a day.
Melissa Martin - Treasurer
Melissa lives in North Syracuse, NY with her five cats: Molly, Mina, Petunia, Fritz, and Tigger. She has been puzzling since she can remember. In high school, she spent much of her puzzling time completing Puzz3D. Current puzzle preferences include anything gradient, fun illustrations, and Disney related images.
